The Ride

The ride we take is "No Retreat No Surrender".  A memorial ride in memory of June Bickham.  June was a member of LYS Unit.  A unit of The C.A.V. - Canadian Army Veterans Motorcycle Association.  It is also a ride in memory of all friends and loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer.  More importantly, a ride in honour of all who are battling cancer on a daily basis.  Not only the cancer but the treatments that ensue.  The Chemo and the Radiation treatments take a toll on the patients that only they can tell you about.  The fear that the cancer will progress or return is something that everyone who knows a cancer patient has dealt with... friends and family alike.

The financial burden that comes with it is something that their families can tell you about.  This is why we raise money.  The money we raise goes to the patients to help offset the costs that go along with this disease.  The cost of transportation and medication can easily skyrocket depending on the type of cancer and the duration of treatment.  We aren't doctors or nurses or researchers trying to find a cure.  We are members of the general public doing what we can to try to help out.

An old biker custom is when riding in a memorial ride you ride with your footpegs down as a show of respect, but also for the spirit of the person to ride with you.  On all "No Retreat No Surrender" rides we will ride  " footpegs down" because they will all be riding with us.

So, when you ride in any "No Retreat No Surrender" ride... wherever you are, whoever you are and whatever you ride, remember this... Until a cure is found and accessible to all, there will be

No Retreat No Surrender!!!
